PROJECT OVERVIEW
Kitsune Sushi is a conceptual food truck brand inspired by Japanese culture and the legend of the kitsune, a mystical fox spirit. The goal was to create a cohesive and visually engaging identity that blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with a playful, modern food experience.
CHALLENGE
The project began as an exploration of Japanese folklore, specifically the fox spirit known for its dual nature: mischievous trickster and wise guardian. The task was to translate this rich mythology into a visual language that felt modern while respecting its roots.
PROCESS
I experimented with illustration, composition, and layered symbolism, combining bold shapes with fine detail to echo the multifaceted character of the fox. The project evolved through sketching, digital refinement, and pattern development, balancing playfulness with sophistication.
RESULT
The final work captures the spirit of transformation central to Kitsune. The imagery is adaptable across formats, functioning both as stand-alone illustration and as surface design.

REFLECTION
The Kitsune Sushi project allowed me to explore how mythology and culture can inform a brand identity. By integrating traditional Japanese elements with playful, modern design, I aimed to create a visually engaging and original experience.
PROCESS & OUTCOME
The design process included research, mood boards, and sketches exploring logos, illustrations, and Japanese-inspired motifs. I iterated multiple concepts before settling on a logo and visual language that incorporate the kitsune, bamboo, sushi imagery, and a curated color palette of black, red, white, and vibrant green. The final work demonstrates my skills in visual storytelling, attention to detail, and translating cultural inspiration into a cohesive brand experience.
LOOKING FORWARD
This project reinforced my passion for weaving narrative, culture, and illustration into branding. It inspired me to continue experimenting with story-driven identities that are playful, thoughtful, and visually distinctive.
